Air Marshal Harsha Abeywickrema, the current commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF), finished his official visit of Pakistan on February 26, 2012. The commander, who was accompanied by other high ranking officials from the SLAF, had reached Pakistan six days ago. He met the current Chief of Air Staff, Rao Qamar Suleman and other top commanders of the Pakistan Air Force.
On the first day of his visit, Air Marshal Abeywickrema visited the Air Headquarters located in Islamabad, along with Marshal Suleman. After inspecting a guard of honour accorded by the PAF, the two Air Force heads held an official meeting to discuss various issues which are of mutual interest. After the meeting, the two exchanged mementos to recognize the visit.
After the meeting with Marshal Suleman, the Lankan Air Force chief paid a visit to the Pakistan Armed Forces headquarters in Rawalpindi. General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani NI (M) HI, the current Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army, met him there and discussed various topics relating to the security issues.
The next day Air Marshal Abeywickrema met Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar, the Pakistani Defence minister. The defence minister held a brief meeting with the Lankan Air chief, and went through a number of issues concerning both the nations.
